#259 The Honey Bee Does Not Attack The Flower

For different people, their interaction with the world takes on different dimensions. For some people even the smallest tasks in the world become overwhelming, and it takes all of their energy to accomplish it; all of their time, all of their thought, all of their intention just to get through what they have to do in a day. For other people, they seem to be able to do a lot of things with very little effort. They can do a lot of things and it doesn’t overwhelm them. Why is this? And what is the difference between the ones who are overwhelmed and the ones who aren’t overwhelmed? What goes on that makes things difficult for some people and easy for others? There a lots of reasons, but inshallah we’re going to try and cover some of them.

When a bee goes into a flower garden it has a very one-pointed attitude. In its own way, it’s able to suspend itself in the air and go into the center of the flower, pull out the pollen, and carry on to the next place where it’s supposed to go. If you notice, if you’re watching, the bee doesn’t land on top of the flower, it doesn’t crush the flower to get what it wants; it just enters the flower and gently leaves the flower. If you ever see a hummingbird, a hummingbird is bigger than a bee but they’re tiny little birds with long beaks, and they live off the nectar in flowers. They’re also able to suspend themselves in the air through the flapping of their wings, and they thrust their beak into the midst of the flower, they take out what they need, and then they move on to the next flower. A hummingbird has to do this many, many times during the day because they require a lot of energy because of the rapidity with which they flap their wings.

In the world, many of us need to get things done in order to sustain our existence. There is an expression: like a bull in a china shop. A bull does not have immense control over its fine motor skills, or even walking, especially in a china shop. So it knocks things over, and it breaks things, and it essentially will cause harm as opposed to causing order. There are people like that. Every situation they enter, they cause chaos as opposed to causing order. Why is that? Why do other people have a soft hand, and are able to get involved in a situation, do what’s necessary, and then remove themselves from the situation where the things that needed to be done are taken care of, they’re taken care of, and everybody is in a better place?

A lot of this has to do with the state of your overall wisdom, with the clarity with which you see things…
