Allah sent 124,000 prophets. He sent Qutbs, He sent Walis; friends of God. He sent them to instruct us as to appropriate action, and He also sent them as exemplars of what to be. Mirrors for us to see who it is that we can be, and what it is we’re supposed to be.
Some people, during their lifetime, have been granted the grace to meet some of these people, and to spend time with these people, and this grace has allowed them to actually view what a perfected being is like and what one has to do to become like a perfected being.
Now, if you read stories of the Dervishes in past history, you will find that people made an effort to search the world to try and find these kinds of people so that they could be in their presence…
