Often when people talk about the world and what’s happened in it, they talk about the time of recorded history and the time before recorded history. The history of the world is a big part of what we learn. We learn history in schools from the time we’re little to the time we go to university and even post-graduate work. History is a very big subject.
Countries have their own versions of their history. If you read about World War I in Germany or you read about World War I in England, you get different stories. If you read about World War II in Japan and you read about World War II in the US, you get entirely different stories. As a matter of fact, if someone from the US met a person from Japan, and they began to discuss World War II and they were in their twenties now, it would be amazing how different the take is on this.
Well, we also each of us have a personal biography, our own history. And many people are very much entranced by that history. Their own history becomes the foremost thing in their consciousness, their own history and their own future. Just like countries talk about what’s going to happen to them in the next five years, people are very interested in what’s going to happen to them in the next five years or the next ten years.
When one goes into a religious understanding, into a mystical understanding of things, into a spiritual understanding of things, one begins to learn very quickly that what we need to study is not our history or the history of the world, but His story, the story of the One who created everything.
