A couple of weeks ago, the Pope came to visit Philadelphia. Now as you all know, but people who are listening to this don’t know, we live within about three blocks of where the Pope was staying. And the Philadelphia coverage of this event was 24/7 because in the hours when he wasn’t doing anything, they were repeating what he did during the beginning of the day. So whenever you turned on the television, you could watch the Pope and watch what the Pope was doing. And if you drove down the street just a little bit, you could see him drive by in his little Fiat waving at everybody.
I watched quite a bit of the Pope coverage and I noticed some things. I noticed that he was constantly smiling, and constantly waving, and constantly being incredibly ingratiating, and pleasant, and kind, and going out of his way to do kind things; like stopping to kiss babies, stopping to speak to people who were severely injured, making a point of getting close to the ones who people don’t often get close to…
