#208 Ignorance Is Like A Weed

In physics they say an object that is still tends to remain still which means, in plain simple words, that in order to move from where you are some effort is required. Otherwise things are not going to change.

When a human is born the baby is without language, without knowledge, with some instincts but very few. A baby would not be able to survive without its parent, or parents, taking care of it for an extensive period of time until it is able to cope on its own. It can’t take care of itself; it can’t do what needs to be done for survival. In order to be able to grow a lot of things need to be done for that child, on behalf of that child.

In the plant kingdom it’s also similar except for weeds. Weeds have tiny seeds and it doesn’t take a lot of water to germinate them, and it doesn’t take a large root system for them to grow. So you drop weed seed, it rains, and they take off, and they take off immediately, and they grow and throw off lots of seed and grow more and more and more. That is why the expression is: “that lawn has gone to weed”. Because essentially it hasn’t been taken care of and the weeds are so much stronger than any other seed, grow much more easily than any other seed that they take over.

In order to plant a vegetable some care has to be given to it. It has to be watered regularly, it has to be looked after and it has to be protected. They just won’t go on by themselves in an appropriate way without a gardener doing some gardening as far as they’re concerned. And one of the things that has to be done when you’re raising grass, or flowers or vegetables is you have to weed because the weeds will continue to come in and try to take over the space.

Now, with larger plants like bushes and trees, they have to be cared for longer. And a tree, you may if you‘re out in an area where there are animals, you may even have to put a fence around it so the animals can’t get at it. You have to care for it on a regular basis until it gets to the point where its trunk is big enough to survive on its own and withstand whatever it is out there that comes at it, and its root system has gotten deep enough that it can get water on its own. That it has expanded to the point where it no longer needs the help of the gardener.

It’s like that with the human. Ignorance grows very quickly, and ignorance will take over large swaths of territory in a very quick and rapid fashion.
