When I was in grade school, which was quite awhile ago, you would begin the day with singing “My Country ’tis Of Thee” and then you would recite The Lord’s Prayer and then the day would begin. Part of The Lord’s Prayer is “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done…” So there is an implication in this prayer that we pray that Allah’s will be the one that prevails… as opposed to what. As opposed to what will? What is His will? What’s the point of our will? What is the difference? What’s free will? What’s constricted will? What is His will?
He is His will because he has no monitor. He has no Creator. He is that He is. So He is His will. What do we know about Him? Well, we know His names and we know the names of his qualities and understanding of His qualities. His names are Rahman, His name is Rahim, His name is Lateef, His name is Shakur. What are his qualities? They are the same as his names. His qualities are Rahman, mercy. His qualities are Rahim, compassion. Lateef, loving-kindness. Shakur, gratitude. Those are His names and those are His qualities. So what is his will?
