In the world of commerce, most companies that are industrial, that produce things, have a section of the company that’s called R & D or research and development. And some pay more attention to research and development than others. They have larger budgets for research and development than others do. And what is the purpose of research and development? It’s to work with their products and to figure out better ways to make them and ways to improve them or to innovate new products to replace old ones that do the job in a better way. Sometimes their whole purpose is to create something entirely different that hasn’t been heard of before.
But in order for this to be accomplished, there has to be somebody paying attention to that specific purpose, paying attention to the research and development, paying attention to innovation, paying attention to the fact that things can be changed and need to be changed.
Likewise, in our own being, we need a research and development sector. And if we don’t integrate a research and development sector into our being, we’re going to remain static. We’re going to be the same product we were yesterday. So, if you want change, if you want something new to occur, something new has to be done. Something different has to be accomplished, and we have to find ways to do it.
